Staying in Tortuguero in the tropical rainforest on the Carribbean coast.
Río Celeste

Hike along a very muddy trail to see the blue waters of Río Celeste.
La Fortuna Waterfall

Swimming in the turbulent waters below.
Hanging bridges near Arenal

High in the tree tops. Ann particularly enjoyed the suspended bridges!
Coati crossing

Our second sighting of coatis by the roadside but this time they hung around long enough for some photos. By Lake Arenal.
Rincón de la Vieja NP

Waterfalls, bubbling mud and fumaroles, and some pretty birds.
Olas Verdes at Playa Guiones

A fabulous hotel on the Nicoya peninsula. We have done nothing more than walk on the beach and lounge around the pool. And eat some food.
Monteverde Cloud Forest

Quite a change in weather. Almost cool. We saw our first Quetzal and did more hanging bridges and a walk in the forest
Catamaran trip

Boat ride to (hopefully) see dolphins and do a bit of snorkelling.
Manuel Antonio NP

Guided hike in the park spotting animals.
Costa Verde hotel

Our room, view of the bay and some of the animals sharing our living space.
Night tour

At last, the iconic red-eyed green frog.
Corcovado NP

Another hot trek through the sweaty jungle. Firstly along the beach and back through the trees. Then, after a break, off to another waterfall to swim.
Caño Island

Another day of snorkelling in the sunshine.
Trogon Lodge

Beautiful spot high up in the mountains. Much cooler than anywhere else we have been. *Very* early walk to see Quetzals. Lots of humming birds and beautiful flowers.
Teotihuacán

An absolutely amazing site. The pyramids are huge and have *lots* of steps.
Ciudad de México

Wandered lazily around the historical centre and visited the Catedral Metropolitana, the Templo Mayor (the main Aztec/Mexica site) and the Palacio de Bellas Artes.
Chichén Itzá

Our first Mayan site.
Cenotes in Yucatán

Swimming in three beautiful underground waterholes near Mérida, México. We were taken in horse drawn carts along old rail tracks previously used for transporting sisal.
Uxmal

Our second Mayan site. Apparently Uxmal means "3 times".
Palenque

This Mayan site is hidden in the jungle.
Roberto Barrios cascades

An exciting afternoon spent jumping down the cascades and entering caves behind the waterfalls.
San Cristóbal de las Casas

Two nights in this lovely town high up in the mountains. Sadly all the churches are closed due to earthquake damage.
Sumidero Canyon

Boat ride along this magnificent canyon with some wildlife viewing on the side.
MatkaajaI am most excited about the sloth. How many toes???
