      Wollongong

      November 25, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

      Day 3 - Kev's House

      November 28, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

The engineer is coming out today to hopefully fix the Internet between 1pm - 5pm. As we didn't really leave the house yesterday and we had to spend the afternoon waiting for the engineer, we decided to walk to the beach for a couple of hours in the morning. Corrimal Beach is around a 20 minute walk from Kev's house. It was a little bit windy and slightly overcast but still warm enough for sunbathing. We didn't make it in the water though.

Back at Kev's we rustled ourselves up some lunch and waited for the engineer to arrive. The engineer did a cracking job of fixing the internet so we spent the rest of the afternoon binge watching some more of the Blacklist. Kev got back from work around 4pm and has a few days off now which is good.

      Day 2 - Kev's House

      November 27, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

We had no real plans today and Kev had to go to work, so we decided to have a bit of a lazy day. Unfortunately the internet broke last night, so we had the choice of talk to one another, or hope there were some movies on a hard drive Kev left out for us. Luckily we managed to find a couple of movies we hadn't seen before so crisis averted. We went for Fracture, as it had Blake's favourite Mr Gosling in it, RED 2 and Lakeview Terrace, a rather bizarre movie featuring Samuel L Jackson. We also caught up with the washing and walked up to the shops to grab some bits for lunch and dinner before resuming positions again on the sofa.Read more

      Day 7 - Kev's House

      December 2, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

We are flying down to Melbourne today but not until 10pm so we spent the day organising ourselves and doing a load of washing whilst we have easy access to a washing machine. It's our first flight in a while so we need to consolidate everything back into just the 2 bags. Since our last flight we have managed to expand into a tote and a cool bag with a supply of staple food goods and ice packs. We didn't think we were going to be able to do it however we just about squeezed everything in. Jetstar have a strict 7kg hand luggage rule so if they weigh our hand luggage then we may have a problem however we've practised carrying our bags as if they are as light as a feather so fingers crossed we will be okay.

Kev kindly offered to drive us to Sydney which is really lovely of him so we don't have to navigate the train with all of our stuff. It's just over an hour from Kev's house to the airport so we set off just after 6:30pm and arrived there in plenty of time. The flight itself was pretty hairy. There have been severe weather warnings in Melbourne due to a ridiculous amount of rain heading across the east coast, so the turbulence was pretty bad! Thank goodness it's only a short flight as I don't think I could have handled it for much longer. I think Simon may have some dents in his leg from my fingernails where I was clinging on for dear life.

We are only in Melbourne for the weekend so I have found us a really cheap Airbnb to stay in in South Yarra. It's only £25 a night which for Australia is cheap as chips! We flew into Avalon which is around an hour out of Melbourne so we had an hour ride on the Skybus before we reached the city. We then had to get a tram out to South Yarra to our Airbnb. When we reached the city the rain was so bad we did consider getting an uber however there was a 1.9x surcharge and couldn't justify spending $40 on a taxi. We therefore braved the rain and set off on the 10 minute journey to the tram stop. 10 minutes doesn't sound far however in the torrential rain we were well and truly soaked. To top it off, when we got off the tram the other side I managed to walk through a huge ankle deep puddle so now my trainers are well and truly wet. It was around 2am by the time we reached the Airbnb so feeling very tired and wet we tumbled into bed and fell straight to sleep.

Jetstar is nothing on Tiger's luggage policy! You should have seen me 'Michelin manning' up like a mad man in the toilets en route to Adelaide. Somehow got away with it on both ends, haha!!

      Day 6 - Kev's House

      December 1, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

Despite not drinking loads, the combination of espresso martinis, red wine, fizzy pink and gin left me with a pretty fuzzy head. Everyone else wasn't feeling too great either so Chris knocked us all up some sausages, hash browns, baked beans and toast. We then headed to the beach for a morning surf / swim to help shake off the last of the hangover. Whilst the boys braved the waves, I decided to pass on the surfing and opted to lie on the beach with a book instead. The surf was pretty rough and in his fragile state, it wasn't long before Simon emerged from the water spluttering. Kev and Chris weren't far behind him either. I went for a quick dip in the sea and then we all headed back to Kev's for a well deserved lazy afternoon.

Kev is in the process of buying a house and was going to take a second look at a place he had put an offer on in the evening, so we tagged along. We then came home, cooked some dinner and watched some tv before tucking in.

      Kev's House - Wollongong

      November 26, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

I woke up with a slightly sore head this morning. Perhaps the neat gin from a water bottle wasn't such a great idea but we live and learn. We are going to stay with Kev for a few days so after some breakfast we packed our bags and waited for Kev to pick us up.

Kev arrived around 11am so with all our stuff packed up we started the drive down to Wollongong which was around an hours drive South of Sydney. On the way down Kev pulled into Bulli lookout as it had a great view over the whole of Wollongong and the South coast.

Needing a bit of a lazy day we grabbed some food from Woolies and chilled for the rest of the day. In the evening, as the sun was shining we thought it rude not to have a BBQ.

      Endlich wieder Sonne ☀

      March 19, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

      just some unregular days

      November 1, 2016 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

Yesterday I went for some hikes. The weather was good, 23 degrees sunny and windy. Saw some caves. A huge tree. Unfortunately the tree was struck by lightning. While I was hiking I saw some animals, I could only take a picture of the bird. A really cool one with nice colours. It was approximately 3 meters from me so that was really close! :-D

Today I went to the mechanic, but he was not there and I left a paper with my number, so I'll see when he has got time. I got some stuff. Also the wax for my Surfboard so in the afternoon I went for a surf. Unfortunately I couldn't catch a wave, surfing with a hardboard is totally different and harder than with the softboard. So probably tomorrow morning new changes.

For dinner I went to the amazing restaurant called domino's! The pizza's are tasty and only 5 dollars! That is really cheap for a good pizza of medium size.
