  • Ninh Binh ~ Tam Coc

    March 8, 2018 in Vietnam ⋅ 🌙 25 °C

We arrived here at 4am on a night bus in a pitch black village. We stayed in a nice little Homestay run by a family. As the village didn’t have that much to offer we explored the surrounding mountains and rivers by boat, going through tiny caves and the rice paddies. Strangely it was a very cold day.Read more

    March 9, 2018 in Vietnam ⋅ 🌙 25 °C

We woke up at our hostel today and found someone sleeping under a blanket on a bamboo deckchair outside....it turned out to be Puppy-Andris who we travelled all round Cambodia with! Such a small backpacking community, that we always meet someone at least twice.

We cycled to the caves today through the rice paddies and small villages. We were lucky enough to see some water buffalo swimming in the river which was amazing to see.

    March 9, 2018 in Vietnam ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

We trekked to the top of ‘Hang Mua’ which was difficult but the view was worth it at the top. It looked down onto the river which we sailed along the day before.

We also visited 9 caves by boat, some were as long as 350m. It was very impressive but we felt sorry for the poor old lady rowing us the whole way so we helped out on the way back.Read more

  • Catba island ~ Ha long bay

    March 12, 2018 in Vietnam ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Spent the day cruising round Halong Bay by boat and kayak which was amazing even though the weather was chilly. There were lots of fish farms, pearl farms and also a floating village.

I also found some Shiva shells which I was excited as I have the whole jewellery collection at home and it’s one of my favourite shells!Read more

  • Luang Prabang

    March 27, 2018 in Laos ⋅ 🌫 20 °C

The 26 hour bus ride from Sapa to Luang Prabang was definitely one of the worst we’ve endured but we finally made it to a new country! We spent a week here in total as we have time to spare and we liked the chilled atmosphere of the town. We were pleased to see tuk tuks again seeing as our first hostel was out of town. Unfortunately had to lose some of my hair while I was here as it turned into a dreadlock situation!Read more

  • Luang Prabang

    March 28, 2018 in Laos ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Mount Phous Si ~ which had a temple at the top and lots of buddhas on route. A woman was selling little finches in the little cages so you can release them at the top as a sign of good luck.

  • Luang Prabang

    April 2, 2018 in Laos ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

We volunteered for a charity called Big brother mouse and spoke English to some young adults who needed to improve their speaking skills.

We also volunteered at Big Sister mouse which is a school on the outskirts of Luang Prabang. We spoke to children from pre-school up until age 20. The children were very cute and sociable but teaching them some basic English words was very difficult.

Finally, on our last day in Luang Prabang we woke up at 5:30am to see the Monks walking the streets in silence and receiving food from the locals (alms.) We also gave them some sticky rice and cookies. As it was Monks involved (my favourite) I was exceptionally fascinated by the ceremony and I was glad I woke up early to witness it.
