    August 28, 2022 in Bosnia and Herzegovina ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Sarajevo is famous for three historical events, assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the throne of Austrian-Hungary on June 28, 1914, which eventually led to World War 1. In the first pictures you can see where the assassin were waiting until the Archduke passed in his car and then shot him. The second event was the Olympic Winter Games in 1984. In the picture you can see the abandoned ski jumping area, a hotel of the Olympic village and the bobsled track (we organized a 20 man bobsled - see picture). The third event was the Kosovo war from 1998 to 1999. The siege of the city of Sarajevo by the Bosnian Serb Army, it was the longest siege of the 20th century. It cost the live of 11.000 people (including 1.600 children) and you can still see the sign of this war. In the pictures you can see still the remains of this war at the buildings with bullets and shrapnel impacts.Read more
