Franz Josef / Haast

The original plan was to stay at Fox Glacier overnight, but happy that we did it in Franz Josef. Apparently the main tracks in Fox Glacier were closed due to slips and it was raining anyway. We had a stop at Lake Matheson, where you normally would have an amazing view of the glaciers.

We prepared ourselves to walk in the rain and it sounds weird, but a rainforest during rainfall is magical... we treated ourselves to hot coffee ☕️ and cake 🧁 after the wet experience.

The following drive to Haast was long and we witnessed the scenery to change from rainforest to farmland and coastal area.Read more
