Richmond is the capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Commonwealth is a designation used by only 4 of 50 states belonging to USA. All of these four, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Virginia were before 1776 British colonies.
The village of Richmond was established by colonist from Jamestown in 1609. During the American Civil War time, Richmond was not only a main railroad hub, seat of Confederate State's Congress (represented by 7 countries in "the South") but it was known also as the South's largest slave market and as location of the largest iron factory in the Confederacy.

Richmond je hlavným mestom Federácie Virgínie. Commonwealth je označenie používané iba 4mi z 50tich štátov patriacim pod USA. Každý z týchto štyroch, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Pensylvánia a Virgínia boli pred rokom 1776 britskou kolóniou.
Dedinka Richmond bola založená kolonistami z Jamestown v roku 1609. Počas doby americkej občianskej vojny Richmond bol jeden z hlavný železničných uylov, sídlo Kongresu Spolkoného Štátu (zástupeného 7 krajinami "juhu"), ale to bolo tiež známy ako najväčší trh s otrokmi na juhu a yároveň ako sídlo najväčšieho závodu produkujúceho železo v Konfederácii.Leer más
