    Blake House Brekkie Meet

    July 25 in England ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

I went down to Blake house to meet the high-fives for breakfast, there were actually 10 of us arrived. Breakfast was lovely in the café, I had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup.
Also Matt new people Graham and Emma and had a fascinating conversation about philosophy and psychology.
I headed down to the craft shop in the corner and ended up ordering a candle holder to be made from Ash with Purple resin.

  • Clare Castle Park

    June 12 in England ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Sadly the original outing had to be changed as a missing man was being searched for. I sensed he had committed suicide and his body was found next day.

So we met up as planned and wandered in the park - but mostly chatted and had coffee and cake. As they were ordering brekkie, I caved in and had a crispy bacon granary bap, cappuccino and carrot cake- all fabulous!

Kev wanted to feed the ducks and swans, so I took photos ax requested of his bravery. Pretty sure mum was hissing a clear ‘fuck off’.

  • Blake House Craft Centre

    May 22 in England ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Fabulous farm near Braintree. The meat was only me and Indy and Kim and Kev. We had a good wonder around all the small shops which were varied and interesting. There’s a large antique Centre which had several interesting things. A magic shop, a chutney shop, a couple of art galleries, a woodwork shop, a biker shop, the café itself which is huge, plus gift shop. I had a cheese scone and carrot cake for lunch both of which were fine but not particularly well cooked.
Kev was interested in buying a guitar and floor drum from the music shop. Kim and I chatted for awhile with the witch who runs the magic shop. She didn’t have my Oracle cards though.
There were a couple of things I would have loved Julian to see although I do need a bigger budget when I go back.
As the A12 was busy, I came back via a very scenic route around the villages. Via Halstead, Bures towards Sudbury, then across through villages towards Dedham where there were lots of people using the river to cool off. It was a proper summer day. Roof down all the way and I even put two lots of suncream on.

  • North Weald Airfield

    April 12 in England ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Drive out with the Hi 5s. An early start to meet them at hanging Gardens Garden Centre. Jet washed Indy on the way which was pretty good. A whole bunch of us drove half an hour to North Weald airfield for a car show. Bacon sandwich and cappuccino for breakfast was fine although not top quality. Then we drove around the airfield after a nosy at the cars to Rosy Lee’s café. That was an experience as there was a plane coming towards me on the way round. Once I parked, I could see the helicopter takeoff in front of me. The café was very busy, but we had a nice coffee there. Fabulous weather all day and a fun drive home including a stop at Frank’s just to check the dark coloured Vulcan is still there for sale.Read more

    Fun drive out to Bradwell!
Met Kim, Kev and new people Baz & Marion - lovely people (with issues).
Collected Paul& Dan at Letchingdon then scenic drive out to Bradwell Marina.
It’s a biker spot too, lots to see and walk to. Plus a fab cafe truck. I had a wrap with southern fried chicken. Perfect.
Then a photoshoot at a local ex airfield & memorial.

  • Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserve

    August 10, 2025 in England ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Hi 5 meet with North Thames branch. They had brekkie early then drove here - we went direct. Nice drive - tucked away near the coast.
Met and chatted to Andy the organisers- aged 28 and very keen to keep diversity in the membership.
Went in to visitor centre, donated to stay then I got coffee and cake.
Staff were Shaun who wants me to do feedback about the potholes on the drive. Also Anna who wants to go in for counselling, so we chatted and she took a card.
Then I walked around the place, sat and tapped and relaxed. EF to Mark, but enjoyed the place.
Had blackberry ice cream and noted knit and natter meetings.
    Must go back.

  • First at Franks

    June 29, 2025 in England ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Our first show and it was an easy meet up at the Princess Charlotte pub then round the corner to Franks. In the big field out back 7 of us parked up together - probably the biggest club there. There was an extra one who is signing up too, so 8.
Kim was lovely and had brought everything required, brolly, chairs, sun cream, drinks, etc. I was winging it.
Paul was the cheeky chap with Fanny. Kev is Kim’s partner. Graham was nice and the couple FrancesGlenn with Maia the cockerpoo mascot. James was also colourful and pleasant.
Had a nosy round the sheds and classic show, met several people who could be interested in EFT, including Kim, her godson, James and the Army medic with the Spitfire.
Farm shop nice too! Open all week.
