Carnarvon to Mingenew

Day 28- We headed to Mingenew "Place of Many Waters," a beautiful old town, after leaving Carnarvon.

Stockmen used to drove herds of about 800 cattle at a time from the north of the state where they'd be loaded onto trains. (These treks could take months). There are lots of metal sculptures around town in memory of them.

We met an old man just outside the pub and ended up talking to him inside. His name is Ian Carr. He worked as a Dr in both Southern Ctoss and Merredin, and it turns out he bought the old Bessell farm outside of Southern Cross.

We had dinner with him, and he thought he'd stay tomorrow as well, and maybe catch up with us for another dinner.Leia mais
