North Pacific Cannery Historic Site

Want to know why salmon were decimated in the Pacific? There were over 800 Canneries like the historic site I visited today between San Francisco and Prince Rupert from about 1880 to 1980. Add to that dammed rivers, water pollution etc… anyhow, the canneries were real cities, often only accessible by boat, employing 800-1200 people per season. I don’t want to imagine the smell…Read more
