  • Into the Great Basin

    3 Oktober 2023, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

It was time to do the laundry today. I then visited an old train station Museum in the goldfields before leaving the Sierra Nevada region and heading east: over the White Mountains, where I took a look at the oldest living trees on earth, the Bristlecones, and then drove down from 10,000 ft to 4,000 ft in the Great Basin. Off to Utah!Baca lagi

  • Cathedral Gorge State Park

    5 Oktober 2023, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

My first taste of the Red Rock Southwest - incredible formations of clay created by water. The area is a large valley bordered by clay walls that contain many slot canyons- see images. The walls are vertical, 3-5 m high. At the end of the valley s canyon. I hiked and biked for 3 hours this morningBaca lagi

  • Zion NP

    6 Oktober 2023, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

I spent two days in Zion, biking into the canyon with the unbelievable mountains to the left, and to the right. Second day I hiked up to scouts overlook, 305 vertical meters on 2 km hike. Very amazing area, but very crowded with people. They get 20,000 people a day!Baca lagi

  • Bryce Canyon NP

    8 Oktober 2023, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

I thought Zion was unbelievable , Bryce Canyon is even more unbelievable. It is so large, you go 50 steps into any direction and the perspective complete the changes, no matter if you’re on the rim or if you’re hiking down into the canyon, it is unbelievable. Sunny for a large part of the day, clouds in the afternoon, but the colors look beautiful even when it’s cloudy.Baca lagi

  • Rocks in many forms and colors

    11 Oktober 2023, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ 🌬 18 °C

After spending the morning in Kodachrome, biking the Panorama Trail, a short drive brings me to the Petrified Forest State Park in Escalante. Incredible, what kinds of colors the minerals created on the wood! After getting gas, propane and food, I spend the rest of the afternoon at the Escalante River: apart from incredible landscape, I hiked up to a ledge with ancient Indian petroglyphs.Baca lagi

  • Capitol Reef NP Day 1

    12 Oktober 2023, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

This national park was named after a long and forbidding mountain range, that rose before early explorers, like a reef from the ocean floor. To me, it presented itself as a long row of red cliffs from the road, white domes on a first hike, and green valleys. More tomorrow!Baca lagi

I’m in Colorado, at the UNESCO wold heritage site preserving the largest concentration of houses of the Ancestral Pueblo people, ancestors of many South-Western indigenous peoples. Settled from about 550 to 1300, the cliff houses are most famous, but there is a lot more to see here.Baca lagi

The mighty Colorado River and its tributaries have carved these amazing canyons. Fantastic looks from above down into the river valley and the cities of Fruita and Grand Junction. The desert bighorn sheep in the first picture was right next to my car, the poor thing had a lame left hind foot.Baca lagi

  • Lost corner of Utah

    23 Oktober 2023, Amerika Syarikat ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

I follow the Colorado river, great creator of canyons. On a short section with a very bad road, crossing from the interstate to the river canyon, I stumble upon the most forgotten almost-ghost town of the US. Cisco, Utah. The decline of the railroad and the construction of the interstate killed this little place. I loved it though. And should I mention, that the landscape in the canyon was incredible?Baca lagi
