  • St. Paul to Dannebrog

    June 21, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

After a good pancake, sausage and egg breakfast at the fairgrounds and some quick announcements we were on our way West. Since we all left at the same time, the road was pretty congested with bikes — probably the last time that will be a problem. From now on, people kind of do what they want as far as deciding when to ride. The line at the bakery in Dannebrog was so long as there was one guy inside serving up the Kolaches everybody was after. Given his shorthand situation, he just had folks make their own change at the cash register while he kept preparing the pastries. :-)Read more

  • Dannebrog to Rockville

    June 21, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Things really started heating up by time we left Dannebrog and it just got more intense as we headed West. Add a continuous small incline pretty much the entire way and it made for some tough riding at times. Rockville really put on a nice lunch for us in the park with shredded turkey sandwiches, pickles and chips. On to Loup City!!Read more

  • Loup City

    June 21, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 37 °C

Getting here was a bit of a challenge, but we made it! Amanda was getting pretty hot between Rockville and here and we stopped a few times to have a rest and cool off. One stop was at a small cemetery that I checked out while she laid near a tree. We got to learn more about the cemetery when we arrived in Loup City and checked out the county museum (lured there by root beer floats).

Our first actual overnight town. We've setup camp at the High School in town and found out how WONDERFUL the pork belly ventures shower service is. OMG. Best shower ever (mostly attributing to what we had just done). I look forward to another tomorrow :-) We attended the Newcomers Reception at the Legion Hall, then after a couple games of air hockey at the bowling alley, walked back to the High School. Possible storms tonight! Hoping for good sleep and then on to the road tomorrow (around 6-6:30?) to Broken Bow.
