Cueva del Esplendor

Today we went on a lovely hike to the cave del esplendor. The hike lasted around 5 hours in total and took us through a varied and breathetaking landscape. It was a bit of an adventure as the path was very muddy and boggy in some parts. As a result, our shoes were very dirty and wet. It had also rained quite heavily during the night and so part of the road had slipped down. That's why we first tried to get round this part further up, but unfortunately it became almost impossible as the jungle got thicker and thicker. So we turned back and a local told us that a few people had already walked over the landslide and that it wasn't a problem. It was a bit of a queasy feeling but we took the challenge. It was very slippery, but we managed it with somewhat dirty hands and trouser. Fortunately we were able to continue the hike. Eventually it started to rain quite heavily and we had to dress accordingly with our proper rain gear. But it was worth it in the end. The waterfall was spectacular!
