My friend David from Germany is visiting New Zealand again, just 10 months after his last trip. We spent a great day together in Akaroa :)
We did exactly the same when my sister and me went to Akaroa. It was Easter Sunday and the queue at this little fish bistro during lunch time was pretty long. Our eating ceremony was also held at one of this benches right at the water edge... Awesome!!! Enjoy your time, Kristin

Just 30 min away from Blenheim I arrived in Picton, a wonderful small town on the coast. From here I took the ferry to Wellington.

On my way up North I took some time to see the Rere Falls and had a fun slide down at the Rere Rockslides. Quite scary, but lots of fun as well! It's not too busy, free and really fast!

Even after I arrived at Bay of Blenty it was still stormy. I stayed one night at a motor camp near Opotiki, walked at the beach and was happy to escape the rain on the next morning.

I spent two days in Rotorua. It's a little bit smelly, but so nice to walk around the parks with mudpools and lots of steam. I enjoyed a hot foot-bath as well as an evening in the Polynesian Spa :)

It's a great place to relax in the hot water. One of my favorite places in NZ so far, hot water in the middle of a river, quite hidden and free!!

I stayed a few days in windy Wellington and went up many hills to get a good look over the city. One day I went hiking to the Red Rocks and of course I had a rest in some nice cafes :)
Mt Taranakhi, Stratford

I stayed with couchsurfers at a farm in Stratford from where I could see Mt. Taranakhi. It often was covered in clouds. One day I went hiking to see the Waterpools and Downson Falls.

I've stayed with a Couchsurfer from Germany in Hamilton.
I went to the museum, strolled around the city and even did some exercise in climbing up a mountain with 1400 steps.
