    Because of a strike that affects all of Nepal, our bus ride to the Indian border took two days instead of 16 hours.. It felt much longer ;)
    But this morning we finally could cross the border to India again. Then after two more buses, we've finally arrived in Darjeeling.Read more

    In India, there was another strike, where not just the streets are blocked, but also all the atms were closed. So was our hotel (but I guess for another reason). Anyway in the end we've found a place to stay and could exchange some euros. Now it just can get better here.

    We went for a ride with the famous Toy Train. Although the two cities were just 7 kms from each other, the round trip took 2 hours (with a museum break). Warmed up with some milk tea, it was a pleasant journey.Read more

    Happy Valley, Darjeeling

    Around Darjeeling there are many tea farms. By accident we've walked into one, called Happy Valley where an old lady running a café neaby took care of us immediately. She made tea for us in 5 seconds! It's true! She insisted that we watch. Anyway it was naturally sweet and tasty :) Plus, she taught us a lot of interesting stuff about tea.Read more

    On our way to Beijing from Kunming where we had a stop over for some hours. It's a huge modern airport with many restaurants and shops. In a few ones I could find this interesting Buddha fruit. Looks too cute to eat :o Does anyone know what it is called?
    By the way: the food box was our meal on the flight to Kunming. Interesting, too ;)    Read more

    Food everywhere, Beijing

    With our couchsurfer Jack we've went to a hot pot restaurant. We also had tasty food at home with Bastian from Germany :)
    At a food market we didn't use our chance to try some fresh scorpions and bugs, but for this we ate a delicious Peking duck at a restaurant.
    On our last day in Beijing I've met with Yifan and we went to a delicious Chinese restaurant together.    Read more

    Xi'an

    On a Saturday morning around 9am we arrived in Xi'an by train. So we took our chance of a sunny day and walked around the city. It is completly surrounded by a huge city wall, on which you can walk. One round takes 4 hours... but we haven't done that yet ;)

    The first days in Shanghai we walked along The Bund (a river promenade), around the skyscrapers and saw the famous Pearl Tower. On the opposite side to the modern part of Shanghai we wandered around the Old Town and some nice shopping areas.Read more

    Shanghai is the place to eat dumplings in China. Or until now at least it is my favourite. The typical ones are fried on the botton and filled with various things :)
    Today we tried a lot of other tasty dishes with our couchsurfer and his friend.
    We've found a free-beer-robot. It opened the bottle, poored beer in a cup and gave it to you. And that's all for free. Awsome :)    Read more

    Most of our day in Guilin was spent in a couple of cute shops and an even cuter cat café. We enjoyed the view over the city from the top of our couchsurfer's apartment :)
    In the evening we went together to a German Beer Bar and played different games to learn the Chinese numbers. The waitress was more or less happy to join us ;)Read more

    Yangshuo

    With our couchsurfing host Zach and his other guest Pierre we went together to Yangshuo. We climbed up a steep hill, but got treated with a wonderful view over the beautiful countryside.
    By the way, at the moment is National Holiday Week in China. That means booked out trains, overpriced hotels and even more Chinese tourists everywhere ;)Read more

    In Nanning we stayed with Ginkgo and her cute pug Haru :) We had a long walk in a huge park with a pagoda, different temples and many orchids. In the evening, we ate at a busy nightmarket, which had so many different and interesting foods like mango-ice-cream burritos.Read more
