    Our fave one, all the truckies stop at in Te Hana is closed. Oh well, we'll try Kaiwaka. .
    Yeah the German one on left where all the coaches used to stop was just closing at 4pm. They let us order toasted sandwiches with 2 mins to spare.

  • Matakohe to Baylys Beach

    Woke to my first lamb outside kitchen window. Just missing a daffodil for perfect shot. Sadly we were the only people in campground. Come on kiwis, get out there everyone and see your backyard.
    Onto Glinks Gully steep road down to windswept coast beach complete with land yachts. Beautifully green pasture up here good to see. Settled in for the night at North Wairoa Golf Club Baylys Beach. Gary will play in morning. Just going into clubhouse for a drink. That's what you do isn't it?Read more

    Little power nap after golf then we off.
    Left Baylys Beach and drive north. Stopped at Kai Iwi Lakes just for a look. No getting out here cause there is kiwi. No doggies allowed. Arrived at Janets, easy to find. Met delightful moko Ava. Thanks for a great night, lovely home cooked dinner, catch up and quiet sleep. We heard the possums and morepork.Read more

    BEAUTIFUL green pasture, views of ocean. Late leaving Janets. Dragged ourselves away finally, very windy drive 24kms through Waipoua Forrest. Decided not to stop in Omapere except for routine ablutions at the local dump station or Opononi, except for photos but straight through to Rawene. Arrived just on sunset. Tucked in now and we go to Level one at midnight. Party!!Read more

  • Ahipara through the Herekino gorge

    What a stunning day. There's nobody out here doing it. Except Rawene, ferry crossing was full. Coffee at The Boatshed, gorgeous drive through the gorge. It's so green up here. LOVING Ahipara. Campground is astounding. Doesn't get any better than this. We have decided to stay another night. Gary has found Ninety Mile Beach Links golf course right next door. He can walk in morning.Read more

  • 90 mile beach jaunt sunset with dogs

    Very friendly people, walked down from campground with the dogs and Paige young girl from next door very nice motorhome, travelling with her Nana. She's having chemo and awaiting surgery, but did this cool cartwheel for us! Ahipara is very beginning if 90 mile beach. Paige and Nana are doing the coach trip up beach in am.Read more

    Sub tropical paradise. Huge place lush gardens. X3 neighbours left this am. Now we all by ourselves, huge paddock. You can hear the ocean on 90 mile beach only 5 minute walk. Def be back. Gary in his happy place playing golf next door.Read more

    Had a most enjoyable time in Tokerau Beach with Jenny and Larry. Best all time outside shower EVA. Good food, weather and fishing and fun. Took dogs down beach, I sat on back of quad bike on top of a dog bed. Won't forget that in a hurry.Read more

    Left Whangaroa, who else hates that low hanging pohutukawa jutting over the road.
    Brunch at Tee Tree Cafe. Best food on planet and dogs can roam round the garden. Used to be called Marty's golf cafe. Has a driving range attached, but no time for that today.Read more
