Snorkeling a magical underwater world

At low tide paddled around a reef discovery walk
Joining a group for an interesting fish feeding talk.
Attended some Marine life lectures to use our brain
Before diving back into the ocean, a mermaid again.

Coral gardens where grasses and anemones sway
Turtles foraging around always content to say G’day.
Enormous parrot fish nibble and spit out sand
Shoals of humbug fish with black & white bands.

A camouflaged octopus swam off with a glide
Performing a ’dementor’ dance before it hides.
Observing all this feels like a mythical fantasy
But the underwater world is a beautiful reality.

Increased water temperature, no Manta did show
Disappointed as that was something I didn’t know!
The island’s advertised as home of the Manta Ray
A winter month trip required, maybe another day.

With champagne in hand as sunset fires up the sky
The Milky Way brightens the night canopy up high.
Reflecting on our life journey over the past 30 years
