We so looked forward to this relaxing getaway
Aboard a special houseboat, a three night stay.
The mooring location was a dream come true
Craggy red cliffs with their ever changing hue.

Whatever you may need was very easy to find
Comfortable beds aid in helping us to unwind.
Upper deck barbecue meals plus a fishing line
Thoroughly enjoyed with a chilled glass of wine.

Dawn heralded with river reflections like glass
Disturbed occasionally when turtles swam past.
Underneath swayed river-weed forests so dense
Wattle tainted the air with its distinct fragrance.

We kayaked, swam, climbed and jumped off rocks
Confident, but kept an eye out for freshwater crocs.
Sandy Creek a favourite to wallow and explore
Egrets, Finches, Moorhens and so much more.

Fishing not taken seriously, sank a line for fun
Floated on noodles getting far too much sun.
Archer fish dart and silver mullet did jump
Rock wallabies scarpered off with a thump.

Cocktails sipped as we took time to think
Watching the sun fade in an array of pink.
Dark velvet sky marking the end of another day
Twinkling with a myriad of stars & the Milky Way.

As any worries disappeared and muscles release
Serene surroundings result in a calm inner peace.
All too soon our getaway had come to an end
