    Townsville

    August 3, 2020 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

Onto Townsville or Brownsville as it’s colloquially known
To a Bali inspired AirBnB for our new monthly home.
In the suburb of Pallarenda with its five mile beach
Ensured all required amenities were within our reach.

Rita came to visit us, just for a few days
With so much to see there’s no time to laze.
The local Cape and Point give a fantastic view
Under clear skies and the Pacific a stunning blue.

Strolling along the Strand to the Marina Port,
Finding WW2 info plaques plus an old fort
This region certainly played an important part.
Now with its unique Museum of Underwater Art.

Lunches by the lagoon on the forefront shore
Overlooked by Kissing Point’s memoirs of war.
Wandered Queens Park and the Palmeteum
An insightful arvo spent at the HQ Aquarium.

Paluma National Park’s ruggedness does entice
With its trails, amenities and rock pools so nice.
Wallaman Falls are known as Australia’s highest
The path down to the base can become a test.

Jourama Falls are totally tranquil and calm
Surrounded by a rainforest lush with palms.
Rock water slides provide hours of fun
Cool pools a welcome from the hot sun.

Little Crystal Creek & it’s old stone bridge.
Sunday market strolled and a Street Art Trail
Kite surfers and yachts tacking under full sail.

Hiked Castle Hill catching sunrise at dawn
Drinks @ The Ville watching Tszyu v Horn.
Stocklands for a pedicure & sneaky peak

  • Magnetic Island

    August 21, 2020 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Magnetic Island is definitely a paradise
Making the ferry trip not once but thrice.
Interesting rock formations and bays to trek
Fringing reefs to snorkel plus a shipwreck.

Bat fish and Rock wallaby’s you can hand feed
Migrating whales playfully pass paying no heed.
Sunset floods the sky with an orange glow
Enjoying the day’s end with a frozen mango.

Then life wanted to show us we’re not so young
A Pneumothorax and Chris had a collapsed lung!
24 hrs in hospital plus a deep wound in his side
X ray appointments & a few days rest prescribed.

  • Charters Towers

    September 1, 2020 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

It wasn’t long before he regained life's zest
Taking a Charters Towers trip, 2hrs out west.
Leahton Park’s cattle herd is over 100 strong
Bred specially for their horns extremely long.

Via the town itself there was not much about
Returned to Mt. Stuart ascending it’s lookout.
Views of Lake Ross and far out towards the bay
    Farewell Townsville, tomorrow the Whitsundays.
