    The walk continued until we encountered a series of beautiful billabongs that were home to very healthy populations of platypuses. These animals build their holes in the banks of these waterholes and generally feed at dusk and dawn.
    We also came across a circular staircase that enables you to look over a vast area that has regenerated since the last bushfire. I was completely unaware of the importance of bushfires in maintaining the health of our native flora and fauna as there are so many native plant species that rely on the heat of the fire to regenerate and spread the seed of the plant.
