• Private Tour of Mostly BUDA (& Pest)

    November 14 in Hungary ⋅ ☁️ 46 °F

Today we took a private tour, just the three of us, to cover the key sights that we did not see the last three days. We had seen a lot of Pest but none of Buda, except as views across/from the river. That being said, we did go back to a few of the sites in Pest first and get another guides’ perspective. We talked about the history of Buda and that of Pest and walked through Pest to see the city and the memorials, the US Embassy and building in Parliament Square. Next, we took a train under the Danube and when we got off, we took a bus to the main square where the Matthias Churh is located. He heard a lot about its history and beauty but chose to see a lot more of Buda rather than spend the rest of our time taking a tour of the Matthias Church. Next we toured the square, the statue of Athena and its history, Raoul Wallenbuerg’s home, and of course some ghost stories and the home of Erik Weisz who grew up in Budapest before he came to America to become famous as Harry Houdini.Read more
