    Today we visited the western fjords of Iceland. The winters here are very long and harsh. From mid Nov to mid Jan there is limited daylight and the sun is blocked from view by the walls of the surrounding fjords. In 1995 Súđavík experienced a major avalanche that took the lives of 12 townspeople. The survivors, in a show of resilience, rebuilt the town just a short distance away in a safer location. We visited an arctic fox preservation center and the town's Lutheran church for a beautiful performance of Icelandic folk music. We had a delicious dinner at Tamarind, an Asian themed restaurant.Baca lagi
