• Budapest - part 1

    Our first stop in Budapest was Gellért Hill for a stunning panoramic view of the city. The hill is named for St. Gerard Gellért who was killed by pagans by being placed in a barrel and rolled down the hill into the Danube River.

    Next, we visited the Fisherman's Bastion and Matthias Church in the Castle District. The view across the river toward the Hungarian Parliament Building was amazing. We stopped at a small Café, Ruszwurm Confectionery, where Empress Sissi had platonic conversations with a man, not her husband. She was assassinated when word got out. Many believe the assassin was hired by her husband.
