    Royal Flying Doctor Service

    After lunch, we visited a dual-purpose museum that covered both the history of the bombing of Darwin during WWII as well as the founding and current work performed by the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. The vast majority of the residents of Australia live close to the coastline. But 7 million people live in the interior or in other remote areas, often hundreds of miles from the nearest city with medical care. The RFDS was founded in 1939 to bring medical care to those citizens.Read more
