  • Wetlands & Jumping Crocodiles

    16. mars 2024, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 86 °F

This morning, we drove to Adelaide River to see the jumping crocodiles. On the way, we stopped at a viewpoint that overlooks the wetlands that's managed by an indigenous family. Then it was onto a boat where we were cautioned to remain seated at all times and keep everything inside the rails. Our guides found several crocodiles during our cruise up the river, and lured them with food to jump (swim vertically) out of the water. There are estimated to be 150k saltwater crocodiles along the length of the Adelaide River.Les mer

  • Royal Flying Doctor Service

    16. mars 2024, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 86 °F

After lunch, we visited a dual-purpose museum that covered both the history of the bombing of Darwin during WWII as well as the founding and current work performed by the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. The vast majority of the residents of Australia live close to the coastline. But 7 million people live in the interior or in other remote areas, often hundreds of miles from the nearest city with medical care. The RFDS was founded in 1939 to bring medical care to those citizens.Les mer

  • A Day in Darwin

    17. mars 2024, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 86 °F

Today, we had a fun day exploring Darwin. We visited a photography art gallery in the morning and then took a walk to the waterfront to dip our feet in the sea. Our next stop was the Museum of the Northern Territory, which was featuring an exhibit of the works of 52 indigenous artists. We had a light lunch which left room for a visit to John John's for Forrest Berry Yogurt Gelato. Yum! Next, we visited the Parliament Building and Library before heading to the airport to catch our flight to Cairns.Les mer

  • An evening in Sydney

    19. mars 2024, Australia ⋅ 🌙 75 °F

We had drinks and a delicious dinner of fish and chips at the Lord Nelson. On the way to find a gelato shop, we saw that the door to the Garrison Church was open. As we looked inside, we saw a young man at the sound board and heard contemporary Christian music playing. We introduced ourselves to Joey. He was enjoying a time of prayer and worship. It was a beautiful moment to realize and experience that our God is the same everywhere in the world. Then, we walked along the harbor at the Circular Quay, enjoying the lights of the city, and stopped at Gelato Messina for a treat.Les mer

We began our tour today with a visit to the Featherdale Wildlife Park. It was simply amazing! We arrived before the crowds and were greeted by dozens of excited wallabies who were eager for a morning snack. Next, we visited the koalas, including a new mother and her baby. And then we fed the kangaroos! There were wombats, Tasmanian devils, dingos, and a wide variety of other animals, birds, and reptiles native to Australia.Les mer

  • The Blue Mountains

    21. mars 2024, Australia ⋅ ⛅ 55 °F

Our tour continued with a visit to the Blue Mountains. Our first stop was Echo Point and a magnificent view of the Three Sisters. There was even time to stop at the "best" coffee shop in Australia for truly delicious coffee, hot chocolate, and a snack.

Then we took the skyway, cable car, and train to explore Scenic World. There were more amazing views of the Blue Mountains and time to take a stroll on an elevated walkway through the adjacent rainforest. We finished our visit with a light lunch of fish and chips.

  • Boar's Head, Leura, & Wentworth Falls

    21. mars 2024, Australia ⋅ ⛅ 61 °F

Our next stop was the Boar's Head Lookout, fondly dubbed the "sound of silence" by our guide, Peter. The viewpoint was in a very remote and peaceful location, far away from the crowds. And the view of the Blue Mountains was amazing!

We stopped in the small village of Leura to do a bit of window shopping and have an ice cream. We were a bit ahead of schedule, so we had time for a brief stop at Wentworth Falls Lake to take in the beautiful scenery.
