    The Col de Rousset is in Vercors Regional Natural Park. This pass is a southern entrance to the massive Vercors Massif which I will explore over the next few days. My route will take me through the Vercors Drômois (Drome Vercors) and the Coulmes (gorges). The later is better known as the home of the Combe Lavale.

    The Drome Vercors is made up of a number of smaller plateaus. In the north of the Drome Vercors there are several gorges which are traversed by roads cut into the cliffs. Grassy areas are used as pastures in the summer months. With the livable areas surrounded by cliffs and step mountains, the Drome Vercors proved a natural fortress during World War II.
