We got off the plane, got our bags from baggage claim (after a very long wait), and are now waiting on our ride from the travel company to arrive and bring us to the hotel.
I did sleep some on the plane, but not much.

During pretty much the whole time that I wasn’t asleep on the plane, I was watching downloaded episodes of Stranger Things (Season 3 specifically). I just started watching the show about a week before we began the trip, and I really enjoy it. Way more than I thought I would. And I’m not gonna spoil anything, but the last episode of Season 3 had me in partial tears on the plane. I had to wipe my eyes multiple times as to not make a scene. But I didn’t begin Season 4, which is actually still yet to be fully released as of now. I’m saving it for the train ride to London and the plane ride back home.Read more

We walked through the huge museum of the Vatican City, with lots of old art and sculptures. This was a guided tour, so we had a tour guide telling us about all the history. We also saw the Sistine Chapel, the Pope’s main church, but photos weren’t allowed.

We walked through St. Peter’s Basilica, one of the world’s largest churches, with our tour guide. We learned about the history of the massive church, saw the sun hit the cross on the centerpiece perfectly, and experienced the MANY statues around the building. We also saw the real body of Pope John XXIII, covered in wax only on the face, hands, and feet.Read more

We walked through the old Roman Colosseum, which is actually a nickname for the place due to it’s colossal size, with our tour guide. We learned about the history of the place as it fell apart, and witnessed the wonderful remains of the arena.Read more

We walked through a very limited section of the Catacombs with a different tour guide, trained specifically to help us not get lost. Photos were absolutely not allowed, unfortunately. The corridors we toured through were very limited, but it was still cool to walk through the underground cave-like tunnels filled with graves. We learned about how people were buried in graves in the walls, and looked at some burial spots.Read more

We walked through the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, another large church, with our tour guide. This active church contains the portraits of every pope from the Vatican City so far, with 19 spots still remaining. It partially burned down in a fire long ago, but the famous arch still stood tall.Read more

We ate dinner at Alessio. I got lasagna. The serving sizes are way smaller here in Italy, which actually makes way more sense than the ridiculous serving sizes in the United States.
