Solo Free Day - Estella

Being Sunday, I looked for a church to attend Mass. Out of the four churches in the immediate area, I figured I’d go to the one dedicated to my Saints name, San Pedro. Among the churches bells announced Mass about every half hour throughout the morning.

After a quick lunch I took my clothes to a laundromat during siesta. I headed back to the hotel to shower, rest, and get ready for dinner. After dinner I took Jon’s recommendation and stopped in the bar we went to the night before to watch the Spain v Georgia soccer game in the Euro Cup. Surprisingly not many people are out to watch the game (at least where I am 🤷🏻).

Gratitude: Getting a taste of solitude today, while it’s a bit daunting I’m grateful that I’m afforded time and distance from the everyday stresses and responsibilities so far removed from my life. I certainly miss my family and friends but don’t miss the responsibility. 😁

Where I saw God today: in the parishioners at Mass today. I can take for granted good music and how it lifts the soul. Imagine Sunday Mass without a cantor, musicians, or a choir. That was the case here. However the full assembly was singing with it resonating beautifully in the church - in various harmonies! It demonstrated how a community can praise God beautifully with what some might perceive as so much less.
