Hawkesbury

This is a long post for a long day.

We had a great sleep tuesday night in a very nice motel in Sault Ste. Marie. After breakfast I took the kids out to play in the rain and Ronin found a worm! Then we headed out with Petawawa/Pembroke 650km away as our destination.... this was not to be.

We stopped in Sudbury for a very delicious lunch and at 7pm we had arrived in Pembroke, we had our food picked up and we were checked into our motel room. We ate dinner and started unpacking while the kids played. With Ronin just rolling around and Alyria skipping the guest below us started banging on the ceiling for us to be quiet. A few minuted later we discovered the bathroom wasn't clean 🤢 and the toilet was plugged. A moment after that the guest below us banged on the ceiling yet again. This was enough, we weren't going to stay here. We started packing to go and got a phone call from the front desk (at 7:45pm) that we were being too noisy! We had paid extra to book a "family room" and we weren't even being "loud". So at 8:30pm we were back on the road towards Ottawa.

We tried to book a hotel in Ottawa but everything was full, so we figured we'd just keep watch for something along the highway. As we passed through town the kids fell asleep and 45 minutes outside town there were 2 hotels off the highway! It was almost 11pm at night by now, we had driven an extra 2.5 hours in the rain, after dark, and both hotels were full. 😟🤦‍♂️ After that we searched and searched and found a Quality Inn in Hawkesbury, only 45 minutes away, and they had rooms!

With a room booked we finished our drive, checked in, and at 12:30am everyone was tucked into bed sound asleep.

Instead of finishing the day just outside of Ottawa, we finished the day just outside Montreal!
