• Our love of lakes!

    Sep 25–27, 2025 in Rwanda ⛅ 17 °C

Our next best thing, apart from enjoying the sky islands of Africa, is without a doubt exploring the bodies of water we come across. Lake Kivu is vast and is known as one of the African Great Lakes, and we were even able to see the Democratic Republic of Congo.

We met Honours, who runs a small tour business taking people to various islands on Lake Kivu. We appreciated his professionalism and the time he took to show us Nyamunini, Amahoro, and Monkey Island, respectively, as well as the swimming spot he took us to, where we could frolic in the water.

As we were preparing to head back to our campsite, we strolled past the Museum of the Environment, went inside, obviously, ate a delicious meal, discovered a botanical garden dedicated to medicinal plants found in Rwanda, and relished in the exhibits on display.

What a way to spend a day!
