Bacalar, What a find!

We drove an hour inland, to this beautiful gem. A well kept secret, little town with a big surprise! Bacalar lake is the fresh water " lagoon of 7 colours". It is quickly growing to a hot little tourist destination. Unbelievable beauty and, shallow clear waters. Originally founded in 1700's by pirates that learned the secret links between 3 of these lagoons that eventually tie to the ocean. Remnants of their fort are still directly in line with one of the passages. It was a great day on a pontoon, and meeting Margi and Jorge.Read more
