Adventure with many bridges

After a stop at the ATM of the post office and at the local grocery store for some lunch food (sushi and fruit), we left Nobeoka around 10:00am and started riding along the river. We knew it would be a long and challenging day with a lot of up and down mainly following the river all the way to Takachiho Gorge. Our lunch spot was at a beautiful road closure but “open to bicyclists” :) We saw and crossed many bridges of different colors and heights. After a good descent followed by a very steep uphill, an old man with a red flag told us that our route to Takachiho was closed, even for bicycles… :(
It was a loooong day! 75kms with more than 1,000 meters of elevation gain.Read more
