    Auckland museum

    I wanted to know more about the Maori culture. The Auckland museum discloses number of artefacts. Unfortunately time was too short for visiting the whole exhibition.

    However I took the time to attend a Moari dance and singing performance. Great performers.
    Moari was almost a forgotten language that is reviving. Young Maoris learn it at school and practice more amores. There are TV and radio channels in Maori. Kiwi people start to learn it in evening class.

    Santiago Chile

    I have spend 3 nights in Santiago. I am now on my way to Argentina. Santiago is the capital of Chile and this is the place where most demonstrations takes place. On my way to the hotel from the airport on Friday. I had a first contact with the people on the streets. The driver gave them some money for passing. No police were to be seen. My hotel was just around the major demonstrations spot.
    The center of Santiogo is much suffering under the situation. Many shops, banks, official buildings like universities or libraries are close. Most of them reinforce their entrance with woods or metal plates. Many grafitti can been seen against the Chilean president and the police. However, in some places life just continues.

    In order to be safe I have taken a city tour with a guide. Santiago is not much of a excellence. I was not really impress.

    The second day, I decided to take a guided tour to the Andes, Laguna des Andes. After 2 hours drive we arrive to a beautiful blue lake at 2300m in winter this the famous place for skiing. Just 1 mountain away to Argentina. During this trip I learned a lot about Chile geography and we talked about the political situation.
    The demonstrations remembered me to the one in France with the gilet jaune.

    Buenos Aires Argentina

    10. december 2019, Argentina ⋅ ☀️ 34 °C

    It's hot here. It looks like that I am following on political events. I just arrived to buenos Aires and this the celebration day for the new Argentinian president. There is a change of government and pretty hard challenge for them.
    People came from everywhere for attending the celebration from the street and then it was a long March. Pretty calm and with music.
    I like buenos Aires . It feels welcoming. Except the 80 min waiting for passing the migration control at the airport. Why so long . I don't really know. I just got a stamp in my pass and I was asked the name of my hotel.

    Visiting Buenos Aires

    I have not made much pictures in BA. Not every where is safe taking pictures with a big camera. BA remember to Paris or Madrid. Large town with a lot of history at each street corner. Food is especially good. I went simply to restaurant that served grilled steak . Very tasty.

    I was very surprised. People queue in good order waiting for the bus. Very British. The center is so busy that people have to wait out side the metro station before entering the station and get on the train.    Læs mere

    Panama canal Miraflores lock

    The Panama canal is a must. It s close to Panama city, I visited 1 of the canal locks. There is a museum on 3 floors telling the story of the canal construction. It took a few years with workers from all over the world for getting the canal operational . I looked at ships passing the canal.. the canal is 80 km long with 3 majors locks. It save time and money for ships to use the canal.
    Panama people are very proud of the canal.    Læs mere

    Panama city

    There are at least 3 PANAMAS.
    The Old Panama is the politic center with ministers and embassies in colonial style .
    The business Panama is gathering the higher buildings of whole south America . In this area there are also condos with 70 floors.
    The real Panama where people live and work with low salary.
    Panama is a city of very much contrasts.
    The Albrook is a large shopping mall where I almost got lost. I had to ask to find my way out. People love to shop even on Sunday.    Læs mere

    Sint Marteen stop over

    18. december 2019, Guadeloupe ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

    On my way to Guadeloupe, I stopped over in Sint Marteen a Dutch island in the Caribbean. I had 6 hours stop over. What do you do in 6 hours on an island. You go to the beach. Of course. After check in my luggage. I walked 15 min to the Maho beach. I was expecting an isolate and desolate beach. The beach was full of people coming to see the planes landing and taking off. The beach is pretty small but with 2 bars with live DJ thus party time.
    It was a great stop over.
    I enjoyed Mexican food at the beach.
    I like to come back to Sint Marteen for longer stay.    Læs mere

    Enjoying home

    I was very happy to see my mother and brother as well as the rest of the family. There is no much time for taking pictures because there is so much to tell.

    My mother adopted a female chicken that is living on the veranda in a box.

    My sister arrived from Paris.

    We enjoy taking breakfast all together taking our time and talking about everything.    Læs mere
