• Leon to Villar de Mazarife

    15 июля, Испания ⋅ 🌙 79 °F

We left Leon early today knowing that the afternoon would be spent better in the shade of the albergue than it would be in the direct sun on the Meseta.

The day flew by, the three of us in conversation the whole Way, discussing aspects of the Breast Cancer Camino walk next year in collaboration with Expedition Inspiration.

Not only does this give Christie and I the opportunity to strategize and plan the program aspects of the retreat, but we are also mapping out where we would walk, where we would stop, where we would stay, etc.

We believe that the marriage of the program we are designing with the Camino pilgrimage will provide the organic and transformative experience for our participants. We are committing to create a challenging, healing journey.

Today’s physical trip was also a success. We love this Albergue, which is family owned. We loved the hospitality, the facility, and the home cooked food. I stayed here two years ago when I walked the Frances route solo. I had some memories come flooding back of a pilgrim I had met that night who has remained my Camino throughout that journey. I reached out to Bas when I arrived here and he was quick to reply, attaching photos of our past time together. I am grateful for what the Camino provides.

We have a long day tomorrow, 30 KM into Astorga, where we have a planned excursion into the Gaudi Palace. We are starting out even earlier as we have further to walk and it is supposed to be even hotter. It will be an epic day though, with some meaningful Camino history and places that I can’t wait to share with Bonnie and Christie.
