Border Hopping 2.0

After making it back to Albania, we tried to figure out where exactly to go and decided on Shkodër - a lake town near the border to Montenegro. In what almost seemed like a miracle by that point, my card was finally working again, which also meant we had enough money to have some fun on our last day in the Balkans. And since we would already be close to the border, it wasn't hard to guess what our next plan was. We made our way to Shkodër while singing along to more 80s bangers. After a short walk through Shkodërs beautiful streets, we were off to yet another border crossing, where we realized we had to get a cheap car insurance, which we almost had to make need of as we ran into some car trouble right after the border. Luckily, it wasn't anything major. We drove until we reached lake Šas where we found a lovely restaurant. I got some carp from the lake while John went with a steak. After the chaos on our way here, we were both relieved to make it back to Albania in one piece.Read more
