Across the Atlantic

I got up early to make sure I'd be at the airport on time. After a frustrating journey that involved both John's suitcase as well as mine, busses not stopping at the supposed stop and non-functioning elevators, I got through the security check and passport control quickly. The Austrian side wasn't what I was worried about though. I really was not looking forward to American immigration after the interrogation I went through the last time. I studied Spanish to kill the time until take-off, after which I almost immediately fell asleep on the plane. Sleeping away the first three hours of the flight, I woke up to start a pleasant conversation with the German passenger next to me. We both were extremely bored on this trip, so we were mutually thankful for having someone to talk to. All in all though, the flight felt like it took forever. I've been on long flights before, I've had boring experiences, this time though, it was mostly my excitement and also anxiousness that made it feel like an eternity. I wouldn't be able to calm down fully until I had officially set foot on American soil and passed customs. I tried to take a deep breath and decided to watch the Atlantic from above, which worked to some extent. Whatever you see from airplanes tends to be breathtaking, but if there's an entire ocean laid out below you, that's a different story. Eventually we finally landed in Boston. After making it through immigration and receiving the luggage I head out to finally meet John again. We got high basically immediately and went on to a dispensery to get more. Little did I know how the evening would end at this point. All I do remember is some Chinese restaurant, some hallucinations and almost passing out a couple times before sleep finally caught up with me.Lue lisää
