So met some lovely women at breakfast from the trip and we all went to visit the civil rights area. So you can see the memorials to the children watercannoned by police, Martin Luther King and the little girls in the Baptist Church fire. Very interesting. I also liked the company.Read more

So interesting first day in New Orleans I have now completely lost track of time, that maybe is a good thing. Our guide Julie tells us when to be on the bus and gives structure to the day. So these photos are mine in the day and then night pix and videos are courtesy of Jess 23yrs who is on the trip with Mum Karen 50ish both from Bristol. I am looking forward to more time in the city tomorrow.Read more

    April 18, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

So the main point of this trip was music. With my two new buddies Karen and Jess from Bristol, after eating in Hard Rock Cafe we hit Bourbon Street. The guide told us to go into any bar we liked the music coming out. She also recommended specific New Orleans cocktails. After an afternoon in the art museum I felt cocktails were deserved. Hey we heard some amazing music this video is just a poor example.Read more

Elvis spent the first 13 years of his life in the isolated Mississippi town. The gardens were nice. The tiny recreated shack showed what absolute poverty he was born into.

  • Nutbush

    April 21, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Apparently Nutbush has always been tiny. I sat in the schoolhouse referred to in the song. It is now a Tina Turner museum. Had a magic moment dancing to an old cowboy playing the guitar before we got on the bus.Read more
