I planned to come here first thing this morning to get the wonderful famous photos of us going through the wall...but there was a signal problem with the train from our place that set us back a ton of time and we had to skip it in order to get to Madame Tussauds on time for our reserved entry time. So we tried again on the way home... but the line was really really long. We were all too tired to wait it out. Instead we took a photo of a stranger doing the pose and walked through the gift shop.Leia mais

  • Wasabi Sushi & Bento

    23 de abril de 2018, Inglaterra ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

Dinner time. Had some sushi at the food court on Kings Cross Station.

Something we learned today: there are no public trash cans anywhere in the train stations. Not even in the food court. We thought it was weird and the man at the table next to us told us that they were taken out because of risk of Isis terrorists putting explosives in the trash bins. To get rid of your trash on the food court, you have to take it back to the counter where you got your food and they'll throw it out in their bins behind the counter.Leia mais

    23 de abril de 2018, Inglaterra ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

We walked by this place yesterday on our way to our airbnb with our luggage. It was hot and sunny and the place was packed with a huge line outside. So today we decided to go see what the fuss was about. There wasn't a line up today.

This ice cream was Amazing! Tammy and I both had coconut white chocolate and Matt had some Salted Caramel something or other. We all unanimously agreed that we will need to go back there again at some point this week.

This concludes the day for us. Time to go put our aching feet up for the night!

  • London Dungeon

    24 de abril de 2018, Inglaterra ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

What is the dungeon, you ask?
Well, here's what the website says about it:
"The London Dungeon is a uniquely thrilling attraction that will whisk you way back to the capital's most perilous past. See, hear, feel and (ahem!) smell the chillingly amusing characters of the 'bad old days' as they come to life before you. Will you lose yourself in fear or in mirth? Whichever way, it's not looking good for your underwear!

    No photos allowed inside.

So what did I think of my experience? It was fun! Matt got picked on a LOT by the actors which made it quite amusing for me. The effects were well thought out and so were the details on the decor. I recommend it.

  • Coca Cola London Eye

    24 de abril de 2018, Inglaterra ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

It's always cool to get to see a city from above. This Ferris wheel is 443 feet tall. It was the tallest at the time it was built, however the High Roller Wheel in Las Vegas has since beat it at 550 feet tall. The London Eye used to be the tallest vantage point in London until 2013 where it was beat by an observation deck on the 72nd floor of a new skyscraper called The Shard, which you can see in the distance in photo number 5.

Also, that guy selling 'Super Soft Ice' ... Isn't super soft ice just... water...?

  • Big Ben / Elizabeth Tower

    24 de abril de 2018, Inglaterra ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

You may or may not know this already... many people think that Big Ben is the name of the Tower, when in fact it's the name of the Clock. The tower is actually called the Elizabeth Tower. Unfortunate timing for us, the Elizabeth Tower and Big Ben are being renovated. It will take 4 years to complete. Scaffolding covers most of the tower at the moment.Leia mais

  • Westminster Abbey

    24 de abril de 2018, Inglaterra ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Beautiful Church. Sadly we did not get to go inside. This church is where the coronations of the Kings/Queen happen. It's also where many monarchs are buried. Many Royal Weddings were held here, including the wedding of Queen Elizabeth to Prince Phillip and the wedding of Prince William and Kate.

The bells rang the entire time we were here.. in honor of the new Royal Baby!

  • Little Ben Clock & Victoria Palace

    24 de abril de 2018, Inglaterra ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Since we could barely see Big Ben, we decided to go see Little Ben!

"My hands you may retard or may advance
My heart beats true for England as for France."

As a typical apologetic Canadian, I can't help but be amused that Little Ben is apologetic. It apologises because almost half the time it tells the wrong time. The miniature Big Ben replica is permanently set to daylight saving time. So half the year it aligns with the time in France instead of England.Leia mais

  • Windsor Castle

    25 de abril de 2018, Inglaterra ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

We arrived at Windsor Castle to discover the Queen had flown in (on her Helicopter) to Windsor earlier that morning. You always know if the Queen is present by the flag. The Union Flag is replaced by the Royal Flag when the Queen is there.

Because the Queen was there, we were unable to tour the state apartments. (It is pretty cool to know that the Queen was basically just on the other side of a wall from me though!) We did get to see the rest though. Unfortunately it's forbidden to take photographs anywhere indoors at Windsor Castle so the only photos you will see are of the outside.

We also got to see Queen Mary's Dollhouse. Super cool. The Dollhouse is huge and has so much detail. It even has running water! I really wish I could show you photos of it.
