    Honey House

    April 22, 2018 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

A few photos of our house we will be living out of for the next week. First 3 photos are of our bedroom. Picture 4 is one of the bathrooms and the last 2 photos are of the little yard. More pictures later. I'm just too tired. We have been up for at least 26 hours now.Read more

    Blue Moon... or not.

    April 22, 2018 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Took a walk to have dinner at a Thai place called Blue Moon... but it wasn't even open. Oops. So after wandering our tired souls around the streets for plan B... We walked into a place that was super sketchy and we walked out faster than we walked in.... So we settled on Pizza Hut take out so we could chill at "home" and call it a night early.
I also got my first look at one of the famous red double decker buses, and oddly... there's a random space helmet in a brick wall near our place. Weird!

    Madame Tussauds

    April 23, 2018 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

So much cool stuff. Hard to choose only 6 photos! I'll do a few more in a separate footprint.

I learned some interesting history about Madame Tussauds and the lady behind it all. I had no idea how long this place has been around for.
Marie Tussaud's mother was the housekeeper of a wax modeller. This man took Marie under his wing and taught her his art. Her first sculpture was of Voltaire, made in the year 1777. In 1794, her mentor passed away and she inherited his collection. She spent the next 33 years touring Europe showing the artwork. In 1835 she settled down and gave the collection a permanent home in London on Baker street.
Since then Marie has of course passed away and the company has changed hands a few times. New locations have been opened around the world. Much of her actual artwork was sadly lost due to German bombings during the war but there are still a few very old models created by her or her mentor on display... which is cool.
In 1883 her grandson moved the collection to a new building where it remains to this day.
Here are a few images from our visit.

    Sherlock Holmes Statue

    April 23, 2018 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

London has these "talking statues" all over the city. How it works is that if you come across a talking statue, you tap your phone on the tag and… your phone rings! In this case, it was Sherlock Holmes on the line! Maybe we will run into a few more of these throughout our trip!?Read more
