    Bon Voyage!

    November 10, 2016 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Time to head off to the airport!

A bit about this trip: Matthew and I are headed to Paris via Iceland with our dear friend Tammie and her daughter Sierra. We are just leaving for the airport now. I will be posting live updates throughout the trip, but please note that a large amount of posts will have a time delay due to lack of wifi while out and about. Posts will upload to the Web once I either enter a wifi area or return to our room at the end of the day. Feel free to comment on any posts- no sign up required, but please include your name in the comment so I know who you are!

The story behind the bag: In 1995, I had the opportunity to travel to France on a school trip. I have such fond memories of this trip but sadly hardly any photos to show for it. Back then we had film cameras, and you had to make that roll of film last your whole trip. You also had no idea if your photo turned out until you came home and developed the film. Sadly, most of my few photos taken didnt turn out very good... and some of those photos- I have no idea what they are photos of anymore. It's one of the reasons I want to photo blog this trip this time. So I can look at the photos later in life, and actually know what I'm looking at too!
Oh... I was supposed to be talking about the bag... sorry. I went off topic for a bit there. Back to the bag... Each of us on that trip in 1995 were given a duffel bag with our names embroidered on the top and the year, school acronym and the Canadian and French flags on front. Fast forward 21 years, and I still have that bag. While I have many other better bags, it seemed only fitting that I take this old worn out bag back to Paris with me. I just NEEDED to do it.

  • Keflavík International Airport

    November 11, 2016 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 8 °C

Landed safely in Iceland! Sierra was being bad on the plane so we had her turned into soup! Just kidding... we had a good flight. Watched lots of movies. Moving on to Paris shortly.

  • Still at...Keflavik Airport

    November 11, 2016 in Iceland ⋅ 🌬 9 °C

We were supposed to land in Paris in a few minutes... but I'm sad to report we haven't left Iceland yet. We boarded the plane on time... and have been sitting in the plane on the tarmac ever since. I have watched a whole movie plus an episode of a tv show. And I colored some pages of a kids coloring book. We haven't moved an inch. We were informed we will be packing up our belongings and switching planes shortly. No photos in this post... we all look tired and crappy! (Crabby too?)Read more

  • Il Farniente Pizzaria

    November 11, 2016 in France ⋅ 🌙 3 °C

    Pizza for dinner! Yum!

  • Point Zero

    November 12, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 2 °C

This small octagonal brass plate set in the ground is considered the official center of Paris and, as mentioned, it marks the exact spot from which all distances throughout France are measured (in relation to Paris).Read more

  • Chez Bagelstein

    November 13, 2016 in France ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Bagel sandwiches for lunch. Oops... forgot to take a photo before eating. Best I can offer is the bag it came in and my coke zero!

  • Champs Elysees

    November 13, 2016 in France ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Big shopping street. If you look closely/zoom in there is the ferris wheel way down the street in the 4th photo.

  • Arche de Triomphe

    November 13, 2016 in France ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

The Arc de Triomphe honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces.Read more

  • Sacre Coeur

    November 13, 2016 in France ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Located at the highest point of the city. There were lots of stairs to get up to it. It was exhausting looking at the stairs as we rode past them on the funicular. Hahaha. We did take the stairs down if that's worth anything? There were signs asking not to take pictures inside. Out of respect for their request I don't have any photos of the inside besides the one I took from the doorway. (Photo 3). This place was really gorgeous inside though. Wish I had more photos of it!Read more

  • Pere Lachaise Cemetary

    November 13, 2016 in France ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Huge cemetary with over a million bodies in it. It averages over 3.5 million visitors a year. We didn't have much time to spend here, but we walked through it and looked at what we could from the path we needed to follow to get across it to the metro. Quite a few famous people buried here!Read more

  • Paroisse St Eustache

    November 13, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 9 °C

Organ concert in the St Eustache church. The organ music was very different and unusual. Not at all what we expected but I didn't mind it. There was a lot of renovation work happening so scaffolding blocked the view of the building compared to normal.Read more

  • Outlet Mall?

    November 13, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 9 °C

Just wandered here by accident... There were huge Lego display windows at the Lego store. Those Lego people in the display were almost as big as me!

  • McDonalds!

    November 13, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 9 °C

McRoyale with Cheese anyone? And pop with a bendy straw. Their monopoly game pieces are weird. It looks like I won 100 dollars of monopoly money. IDK.

  • Le Trocadero

    November 14, 2016 in France ⋅ ☁️ 6 °C

Went to the Trocadero this morning... mostly for the view of the Eiffel Tower from there. Fountains in the garden were not on so there wasn't a ton to see besides the Eiffel Tower.
