    First proper training hike. Distance - 17.92 Km, 293 m elevation, 4 hours 11 mins. Walked up the Beacon by its steepest slope. Boots are getting more bearable. Clare has new boots too.

    First training walk for Lisa's new boots around Richmond Park covering 12.24 Km and 139 m elevation over 2 hours 36 mins. Stags were barking all over the park. Alas the picture of the boots being happily modelled at the office was not the case on the walk.     So, we are starting our trip in four months. After about a week in Buenos Aires we will head to El Calafate. We have signed up to do the O trek in the Torres del Paine, Chile in mid February. It's 9 days and 138 KM in total (8 nights of camping, 7 days of walking, 2 days of traveling to and from El Calafate) but we will have a guide and we don't have to cook or carry all of our own gear - these were Clare's conditions for doing it with me.
