Ocean Grove

Arrived at Melbourne on the Spirit at 6.00 am. Disembarked and travelled to Geelong, stopping for Coffee at a Roadhouse on the way. Travelled by Geelong Ring Road to Ocean Grove. Spent the morning with Doug and Sue Casey. Drove to Leopold to Mark and Maureen's house. Caravan wouldn't fit down drive way so went back to Oceon Grove and booked into CP. Went back to Leopold and had BBQ tea with Mark, Maureen, Katrina, Dean and the two boys.Read more

After packing up van at CP went back to Mark's and had breakfast of scrambled eggs with the family. Mark showed us around his block and we left about 11 am. Booked into the Fig Tree Holiday Village at Warnambool.Read more

On the way to Mount Gambia we detoured into Portland. Had coffee and cake there. Arrived Mount Gambia about 2 pm. Had a look at the Sink Hole and the Blue Lake before getting some bits and pieces in the main street. Found Chris and Dianne O'Donnlell's place and set up caravan in his drive. Chris took us for a trip around town before a lovely Roast Beef Dinner. Talked about old times etc until midnight.Read more

On the way to Meningie had lunch on the side of the road and after taking a photo of Larry the Lobster at Kingston we filled up with diesel at Salt Creek. Booked into Caravan Park on the bank of Lake Albert.
Day 2: Went up to Shopping Centre, bought groceries etc, relaxing day.Read more

Left Memningie at 8.20 am after breakfast and headed off to Clare. Drove via Murray Bridge, Mt Pleasant, Angaston, Nuriootpa and Kapunda. Top Caravan Park at Clare was full so we went onto Gladstone and booked into a small Caravan Park there.Read more

Left Gladstone CP at 8.10 am and headed off to Port Augusta. Stocked with groceries at a Coles Supermarket. Fuel stop at Kimba which is halfway across Australia and home to the Big Galah. Booked into the Gawler Ranges Motel and Carvan Park at Wudinna.It was raining when we got there.Read more

Rained had stopped by morning and was a nice fine day. After filling up with diesel at Wudinna headed off to Ceduna. Bought a few bottles of wine as Ceduna is the last major stop until we get across the Nullarbor. Booked into Penong Carvan Park and after setting up van walked over to outdoors windmill museum and took a few photos.Read more

Filled up with diesel at Penong and headed off to the Border. After a cup of coffe on the way went into the Head of Bight. Saw some whales and took photos of whales and the coastline. There are several places to drive into to see the very impressive coastline. Booked into CP at the Border Village Roadhouse.Read more

Filled up with diesel at the Border Village Roadhouse before going through the quarantine station at the border. Arrived at Caiguna early afternoon. After setting up the van we walked up to the start of the Ninety Mile Straight.Read more

Storm hit during the night. Very windy with rain and hail for half an hour or so. The 90 Mile Straight is Australia's longest sraight Road, 146.6 Km. Windy in morning, stopped at the Caiguna blowhole. Head wind so didn't travell very fast, arrived at Norseman at 2.00 pm.Read more
