The final leg. Back home in time for Tom for Mother's Day. Went to the New Mexican restaurant, La Casita. Pretty good!
Also a little snow in May!
Last long leg, we made it to NY for the Celtics game Friday night. Saturday we lazed at home and watched some TV.
In the afternoon we met up with Tom's brother Josh and his girlfriend Katie. Saw a movie, got some drinks and a great Cuban meal.
Checked into our campsite and had a nice dinner on the fire.
The next day Tom went to Yorktown and the American Revolution museum while I worked. Kinda sucked because it was cold and rainy and I had to sit outside under and awning.
In the afternoon we went to Movie Theater, a theater that serves up food and drink while you watch the movie. Came back to the campsite for a nap and then back out for some awesome Mexican food.Read more
Worked the morning again and then head up to Chapel Hill to visit Tom's aunt and uncle. Turned out it was his cousin Austin's birthday so we went to dinner.
Worked from there the next day and took a break and swam in their pool. Finally it was warm enough to swim!
I worked the morning from our little cabin. Tom did a bunch of errands and then went to 12 bones the highest rated BBQ joint in Asheville for takeout. Pretty decent. Then in the afternoon we head down to DuPont State Forest for a hike. Apparently parts of the Hunger Games and Last of the Mohicans were filmed there. Nice hike and stunning waterfalls.
On our way back we head into Asheville and checked a rooftop bar. I had my first (delicious) rose and the view of the mountains was spectacular. Met a lovely couple from Indianapolis who were also camping.Read more
Next morning we head west through the mountains just south of the Great Smokey Mountains. Some gorgeous views early on and then again closer to Asheville. Had lunch at a meeting point of the Appalachian trail.
It was still going to be cold the next 2 evenings so we booked a cabin with electricity, a mattress and HEAT! Had a shared kitchen facility and fire pit. Quite nice.Read more
Great off the beaten path campsite. Stopped and got some sweaters and an extra blanket. Had a yummy dinner and then went into the tent to play cards only to decide to sleep on the car. With the seats down in my Crosstrek it worked out quite well and was actually cozy!
Head out of town and found a campsite in a park in Alabama. Gorgeous spot. Surprisingly it was super cold that night. It got down the the 30s and we woke up freezing in the early morning. Definitely not prepared for that.
Some really interesting talks and some not so much.
Tom got to see a few professional sportsmen entrepreneurs. My fav was Wyclef!
On Wednesday I was working while Tom went to lunch with the 2 people staying with us. He had an oyster and an allergic reaction. They acted fast and got him Benadryl. Unfortunately it took him a couple days to feel better.
Went to Lula distillery for dinner. Has a great shrimp dish.Read more
