Calgary Sunday 16th July

Calgary for 1 day. Arrives lunchtime Sun July 16th. Start of the Journey of the Clouds 10 day package. Very tired as woke at 3am to go from Quebec to Montral flight (50mins) at 6.20am and then flight from Montreal to Calgary at 8.50am. 3 hour flight with AirCanada- huge flight like a big Qantas plane. Taxi to our hotel at Delta Calgary Downtown. Last day of the Calgary Stampede here. Lots of hicks wearing big ugly cowboy hats. Place looks average. Grubby looking Chinatown..nice food street that we had lunch at called Milestones. Big serves and very tasty
Fire and smog makes visibility horrible and can smell it in the air.
Riverside area looked OK but nothing we saw was special. Just another generic city.
Hotel great- over the top service by the check in guy (keep saying "smaaaashing" and was quite in your face). Girls had fun in the big indoor pool and hot tub. Then back to room from exhaustion (all have colds and Will has tonsillitis and a chest infection) snd asleep around 5pm and woke at 3am.Read more
