Day 32 - Poole to Paris

Today was another transport stage, that included a ferry. It was convenient for us to get the ferry from Poole to Cherbourg in France, so we didn't need to drive to Folkestone to cross the channel. We arrived at the ferry terminal in Poole just before 7.30 am and were soon sitting in a queue to board. However, we were quickly on board, and the ferry left on time at 8.30 am. We found some recliners to sit on and settled in for our five hour cruise.

The cruise was very smooth, and we arrived in Cherbourg on time. Having arrived in France, we also lost one hour, and it was after 3.00 pm before we left Cherbourg for Paris. I did the first driving stint and had to adjust to driving on the other side of the road. We had 350 kilometres to cover to get to Paris. With no time to waste, we went on the fastest route to Paris, which included some tolls. As we approached Paris, we could see the Eiffel Tower, and there was no mistaking that we had made it to Paris. After parking our car, it was 8.00 pm - a long day on the road.Read more
