The Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is an oval-shaped amphitheatre located in the centre of Rome, Italy. It is considered one of the greatest architectural and engineering feats of the ancient Roman Empire. The Colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests, public spectacles, animal hunts, and other events. Construction of the Colosseum began in 70 AD and was completed in 80 AD.
