• Day 65 - Amsterdam

    20. august 2023, Holland ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Today was our sightseeing day in Amsterdam. The nice thing was that it was not as hot today, so it was a perfect walking day. Amsterdam is famous for its beautiful canals. The city has over 100 kilometres of canals, and it is often referred to as the "Venice of the North" because of its waterways.

We walked about five kilometres from our accommodation to the centre of Amsterdam. The walkthrough of Westerpark was a charming Sunday stroll. Many people were out enjoying the sun, riding their bikes, or walking their dogs.

The first place to visit was Anne Frank’s house. Anne Frank lived in Amsterdam during World War II, and she gained fame posthumously with the publication of her diary, "The Diary of Anne Frank," which documents her life in hiding from the Nazis. There is now a museum on-site, but it was sold out today, so we couldn't go in.

We walked passed the Royal Palace and Grand Centraal Station before making our way back to our accommodation. It was an enjoyable Sunday walk.
