• Gothenburg sightseeing

    September 24, 2025 in Sweden ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

The sun shone brightly from early in the day, and it remained sunny throughout our day in Gothenburg. Gothenburg is Sweden’s second-largest city, known for its blend of industrial heritage, cultural richness, and laid-back charm.

Our apartment was in the centre of town, so it was a perfect day for a stroll around Gothenburg to see the sights. This morning, we wandered up the main boulevard of Gothenburg, known as Avenyn (The Avenue), which was inspired by formal European streets like the Champs-Élysées in Paris and the Ringstraße in Vienna.

Dodging the trams, we then walked down to Haga, one of the oldest and most charming neighbourhoods in Gothenburg. It dates back to the 17th century and is known for its well-preserved wooden houses, cobbled streets, and cosy atmosphere. We enjoyed one of the famous cinnamon buns for which the area is renowned. From there, we went to the Market Hall to grab some lunch.

After lunch, we explored the Gothenburg Museum and enjoyed the sunshine at Bältespännarparken, a small but historically significant park in central Gothenburg. I closed my eyes for just a moment and started to drift off. The weather was perfect, and our day in Gothenburg was wonderful.
