Riding the dunes in Pismo. Sooooo much fun.
Drove from Avila Beach to Morro Bay to see the rock. When we got there it was too foggy to see it. We drove further to Cambria for lunch at Linn's. For dessert we had Olallieberry Pie and Cake. On our way back to Avila we stopped in Morrow Bay again and we were able to see the rock just long enough to snap pictures. There were fishing boats there that were used by the film crew to film Pirates of the Caribbean and The Perfect Storm.Read more
Day 2 and not as impressed by this town, much less vibrant. We did have a great meal at Gray's Coors Tavern. We ate the slopper which is an open faced burger with 2 patties with cheese, onions and covered with a chili sauce made with local pueblo peppers. It was yummy comfort food. Other places tout the best slopper but Coors Tavern is the place to go.Read more
This is not much of a sight seeing trip. Just keeping my husband company in between working. This town has a small town feel but is not that small. Had some great food. First was at the Skirted Heffer which is a small burger place in the old town area. The next morning we had the best cinnamon roll at a converted old home called Mountain Springs Restaurant. The mountain views around the town are beautiful and I want to stay at the Broadmoor Hotel someday.Read more
This is a state park that costs $7 and the pass is good for 3 days. There is an observation area which is the 1st pic and we saw a whale. There are man made tide pools as well, but I have no pics. There are also trails which we were unable to walk due to my husband's back. Further into the park is a lighthouse that they offer tours of the inside. The 2nd pic is the lighthouse, we didn't tour the inside.Read more
