Mississippi River Headwaters, MN

Just over 2500 miles from Lake Itasca the Mississippi River flows into the ocean, 1000 feet wide. We walked the 18ft across the Mississippi at its start! That lasted about 2 seconds as there were so many people. We walked up the river, hung out at the visitors center (I read while the kids played with water) and then headed to 'The Beach' to swim.
