Getting ready

On Saturday we head over to Norway in hopes to see many things but especially Northern lights. Follow along if you would like .
Oslo, Norway

Flights went well and arrived in Oslo by 1pm. Getting ready for a short guided walking tour. Photos later. The center of town is mainly a walking area. Nice parks and fountain. Ate dinner by theBaca lagi
Tour of oslo

Today we took a bus and walking tour of town. First picture is of their opera house built to look like an iceberg wit a glass iceberg floating near by, second and third from a huge sculpture garden,Baca lagi
Hike along river

Went for a hike along a river that runs through the east part of Oslo. They have had lots of rain and water was moving. Plus lunch at Amundsen Brewery with a tasting. Best was their new England styleBaca lagi

lunch

Just had a great lunch of mushroom soup and salad under the snow covered mountains.
Stave church

Toured church built in 1180. Drove over mountains of about 4000 ft elevation with fresh snow.
Flam

Drove on to cute little town of 350, Flam. Had a great dinner and then walked to local micro brewery. A bit colder, 40 degrees but no snow here.
Traveling to Bergen

Boarded a train from Flam over mountains to Myrdal. Gorgeous scenery
Another train ride

Took a second train towards Bergen.
Bergen

Arrived in Bergen. Large harbor and pretty town. Rode a funicular up to the top of a mountain for a great view. Found a 135 year old brewery for dinner and a tasting. Great day now for some sleep
Oygarden

Today we drove out to an island force tour of a salmon fish farm. Fantastic scenery on the way and an interestng tour. Plus they served us lunch. Even had a section of the museum dedicated to outboardBaca lagi
MS Nordlys

Today we walked to a fishing and whaling museum, had lunch and then headed to the cruise ship. Rooms remind mevof dive boats , efficient. Dinner was very good and lots ofvinformation. We arecheadingBaca lagi
Urke

Moved up a fjord and off for a walk. Gorgeous snow on peaks. Very quiet and so peaceful.
Alesundj

Docked again and another walk. This town was known for it's decorated buildings. Plus it's heated park benches!!!!!
Trondheim

Pulled into harbor at 10 am and had a bus tour of town. Visited the most northern gothic cathedral in Europe. The last photo is of a bike lift. You put your right foot against a thing that looks likeBaca lagi
Under a bridge

We traveled up a narrow strait and then went under a bridge with only 6 feet of clearance. Then a hard right turn to try and stay hidden behind the island. Nice sunset. Now actually crossing some openBaca lagi
Magic Ice

Stopped and I was able to go to an ice bar. Really fun. Steve went to a world war 2 museum.
Tromso

Long haul to this area. Well within the artic circle but not much snow. I always thought it would be all ice up here but gulf stream keeps it a bit warmer. I did find the smallest bar and the farthestBaca lagi
cruising along

First day of rainy weather, but just need to pick the direction to look for the better weather
Northcape

Took bus to farthest north point of Europe. Interestng. The art thing done by children around the world was very special

Off the boat

Off the boat and travel into Kirknes. This town has a Ww history. So visited a bomb shelter. Plus it was snowing a little
Ivola, Finland

Left Kirkenes and stopped by the Russian border on the way to Finland. Finland has 188,000 lakes and reindeer. But also saw moose today. Had reindeer stew for lunch.
Sami museum

The local native people are the Sami, they are the only ones allowed to herd reindeer. We toured a cultural museum and then a reindeer farm. On the way we had some fantastic snow landscapes. Plus weBaca lagi
